Project Summary - Axe & Lock Suppliers

The focus of this exercise was designing a responsive website for many different client devices in a cohesive process, with an emphasis on component reusability. For this responsive design project I decided to create a gear supply store for first responders, infrastructure maintenance professionals, and disaster/emergency preparedness to challenge my ability to understand and empathize with end-users through UX research and usability studies. While I have modest exposure to the needs of these communities through my previous work experience and training for wilderness survival, first aid, and volunteer SAR, the “life and death” requirements of the end users required particular attention to UI details, product descriptions, and consideration of users’ decision-points to make mission-critical equipment purchases.
